The below image was taken using GOES 1km visual satellite at 1:23pm CST. The white areas are not clouds, but ice and sleet accumulation. My location is noted with the red + just north of Dallas. Considering how bad it was here, the Satellite does makes me think it was considerably worse to the North and East! Click the pic for full size.
