Looks like the severe weather threat for the Metroplex is over, while eastern counties are still ahead of the cold front and have chances of severe storms. This event despite the forecasts showing a very good potential for severe weather, has been somewhat unexciting. I figure this is likely due to the lack of atmospheric instability because of the time of day, and overcast sky conditions ahead of the front. However rain chances are not quite over for our area.

Looks like scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm chances will persist from now until Friday afternoon. Cloud cover will remain mostly cloudy to overcast through this time period as well. Temperatures should not rise much higher than they are right now, and cool to lows around 45 for the next 5 days. High temps will vary slightly each of the next 5 days, but will warm slightly from 61 degrees Friday, to 72 degrees Monday.

Halloween weather looks to be perfect, though slightly cool. Clear skies, high of 67, low of 45. Temperatures around sunset will be in the mid 50s. Winds will be around 5-10 mph from the northwest.

Also remember this weekend is time for daylight savings time to come to an end. At 2:00am Sunday morning is the precise moment that I expect every single one of you to change your clocks back 1 hour. If you do not, I will hunt you down and educate you on the harm you have done to.. well I digress here. Time change day however is an excellent chance to replace the batteries in equipment around the house… like your weather radios! This is a very good idea since we are in a time of year where severe weather is more likely to occur.

  1. You’ve just reminded me that I need a weather radio. My ears are pretty alert to storms at night, but that’s foolishness. Still, I will never get an umbrella!
