Look at this radar snap taken at 7:24 EDT over Treausre Island FL. Looks like radar indicates 0.75 inch hail. My family was not at home during this time so I didn’t get the fun ground truth verification out of this one though. Too bad I missed it!
Widespread storms around the Tampa Bay Area, including a strong one developing over the bay, moving west. This storm just developed a small hail core and may dump nickel sized hail on downtown St Pete and south St Pete. This is a new storm cell that is still developing, however if it strengthens any more, a severe storm warning may be issued. This storm will impact the southern 2/3rds of Pinellas county, but the worst of it will affect areas from Central Ave and south.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued until 7am CDT. The local forecast office indicated this line of storms due to the severe weather outbreak I mentioned last night, is supposed to stop along the Red River Valley. I show gusty winds on radar, there is a potential for very high winds as these storms could produce a microburst. They are moving to the west and will eventually affect all of Pinellas County. This is for the core of Tampa too, I see no strong rotation on radar but it is still entirely possible a small scale funnel formed. Wednesday looks to be quite warm across the area with temps pushing into the uppers 80s to lower 90s. Humidity will be up with dew points near 70 as well so Wednesday will feel alot like Florida.
