Hey folks, the SPC just issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the whole DFW metroplex including Frisco. Now before you tell me that your weather radio didnt go off, I know because my fixed weather radio didnt go off either. My portable radio did go off, and I do not have it programmed with any of the county SAME codes so that it alerts me for all counties, so I dont know what the deal with that is.

Anyways, this Severe Thunderstorm Watch expires at 2am, and the watch discussion hasn’t been released yet but I am sure the primary risk from this is large hail and straight line winds. Again, the tornado threat tonight is quite minimal. Tonight would be a good night to find a garage/covered parking or somewhat tree protected area just incase a hail storm comes this way. The risk is moderate for hail tonight.
Timing looks to be about maybe around the 10:30pm range when the storms will get here. These will likely occur from the 10:30p to near midnight time frame.
