…Ice Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 12 PM
CST Wednesday…

…Freezing Rain Advisory no longer in effect…
…Winter Storm Watch no longer in effect…

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued an Ice
Storm Warning for significant icing for the northern two thirds of

North Texas…which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 12 PM
CST Wednesday. The Freezing Rain Advisory for tonight and the

Winter Storm Watch for Tuesday and Wednesday are no longer in
effect.

Periods freezing rain will develop after sunset along and northwest of a

Comanche…Weatherford…to Sherman line. Temperatures will remain
below freezing through Wednesday morning and periods of light

freezing rain will continue. Total ice accumulations of one quarter inch
are likely with isolated one half inch amounts.

All precipitation will end after sunrise Wednesday but temperatures
should remain below freezing until afternoon.

An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations

will make travel extremely dangerous or impossible.

Hey Texans, we have another exciting freezing rain event headed our way Monday night through Wednesday morning. The worst of it will remain just to our north in Oklahoma City but our area will still get a good icing from this. Currently the forecast shows us getting very light freezing rain Monday night into mid Tuesday morning until the temps rise above freezing. The temps will drop below freezing again on Tuesday night through Wednesday morning and this is when the worst icing is expected. Currently there is a possibility of maybe 1/4 inch of ice accumulation overnight, and 1/2 inch of ice just to our north. This system has a considerable amount of uncertainty however so keep in mind this forecast is subject to change as we get closer. A statement from the NWS below:

…Potential for freezing rain over portions of North Texas Monday
night through Wednesday morning…

A shallow layer of cold air will move into North Texas Monday
night behind a cold front. Moisture associated with an approaching

upper level low pressure system will ride up over the cold air to
produce some light precipitation. Locations along and northwest

of a line from Cisco to Gainesville may see some light freezing
rain before sunrise Tuesday. The light freezing rain could linger

until midday Tuesday before temperatures warm above freezing. Little
or no ice accumulations are expected.

Freezing temperatures will spread further south across North Texas
Tuesday night through Wednesday morning while moisture and lift

increase. Freezing rain will be possible northwest of a Lampasas…
Waco…to Athens line overnight Tuesday through midday Wednesday.

There will be a potential for ice accumulation before precipitation
ends Wednesday afternoon.

There is still considerable uncertainty in how far south the cold
air will spread and how much precipitation will fall. Therefore…

residents across North Texas should monitor NOAA Weather Radio or
your local media in the coming days for the later updates on this

potential freezing rain event.

The National Weather Service sent this out earlier today.
