Another day filled with afternoon storms that Florida needs oh so much right now. Today‘s local storm report seems exclusive to Lee county near Ft. Myers. I have highlighted interesting spotter reports below. Additionally Treasure Island did receive some measurable rainfall today but nothing too special other than that.

• Total rainfall in Treasure Island for 5/14/07 - 0.07 inches of rain
• Peak Rainfall Rate 0.70 in/hr.

Notable Local Storm Reports:

• 4:52pm - 5:57pm - Multiple reports of 0.88inch hail in Fort Myers (Lee County)
• 5:31pm - 56mph Gust - Page Field in Fort Myers (Lee County)
• 5:54pm - 43mph Gust - C-MAN site at Big Carlos Pass, Bonita Springs (Lee County)

Multiple reports of Hail Wind damage from around the Tampa Bay area from severe storms on Sunday 5/13/07. Personally I was not able to observe any as there was a persistant haze all day that prevented me from seeing a single bit of a storm that was 10 miles away therefore no pictures of any kind. No storms happened in Pinellas county, therefore none affected my weather station. However multiple storm hail wind reports were called in. Below is a brief list of interesting weather observations that the National Weather Service recorded from around the area:

• 2:51pm - 1.75inch Hail - Brooksville (Hernando County)
• 3:06pm - 1.00inch Hail - Williston (Levy County)
• 3:55pm - 0.75inch Hail - Mango (Hillsborough County)
• 4:40pm - 63mph Thunderstorm Wind Gust - Lakeland Linder Regional Airport (Polk County)
• 4:40pm - Thunderstorm wind damage to plywood roof small trees down - Mulberry (Polk County)
• 4:43pm thru 5:20pm - Multiple reports of hail ranging from 0.50inch to 1.00inch in Lakeland (Polk County)

For Treasure Island and the rest of the beaches in Pinellas County, it was the best beach day in the past week since the smoke wasn‘t affecting many people and the sun was the brightest its been in a week. The UV Index peak was 7.1 which will not give anyone a burn except for those with extremely light skin or those in the sun all day.>

The National Weather Service has published a statement about the dry conditions for Florida this season.
