Howdy Texans, looks like a TUTT (Tropical Upper Tropospheric Trough) Low will move over the region this weekend, and alter our long standing weather pattern. This feature is progged to shift the dominant high pressure ridge off to our east, while the low pressure system moves just to our west.

The National Weather Service put together a useful graphic for illustrating the effects this will have.

The track is uncertain, even a minor deviation in the track will bring significant different weather for north Texas. Current forecasts call for increased humidity, but slightly lower afternoon highs. Isolated rain showers or t-storms still possible daily through Tuesday next week.

Again, a slight alteration of the low pressure track could dramatically change the weather conditions we experience. If you have any outdoor weekend plans, keep a close eye to the forecasts as they may be subject to large changes.

This year, just about every city in the D/FW Metroplex had it’s own fireworks show. Luckly with the holiday falling on a Monday, this ment each city did it’s fireworks show on different nights. I got to visit three different shows on Saturday, Sunday and Monday night.

I tried different shooting strategies with my new Pentax K-5. It’s superior low light capabilities made shooting beautiful fireworks pictures a breeze! Capturing fireworks at 1/10th of a sec, f/2.8 and ISO 640 seems to be the magic setting on this camera. Fireworks captured at 8/10th of a sec, f/5.6 and ISO 100 to 200 look nice too, but has a more exaggerated look to them.
