Gallery: Overnight thunderstorms in D/FW

Severe thunderstorms impacted the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex early 10/23/11, bringing high winds and hail. Spotty reports of high winds came in, with separate reports of 70+ mph in both Plano and Rowlett. With the passage of a strong thunderstorm outflow here in Irving, temperatures dropped from 78 F to 64 F in a matter of just 5 minutes.

I’ve created several new videos, including never before released footage of a storm chase I performed May 25, 2010 in the Texas Panhandle. I observed two separate supercell thunderstorms along US 385 in Channing, TX and Dimmitt, TX. I also observed a tornado, though at the time it wasn’t very obvious. Tornadoes over central Oklahoma!

Storm chase on May 19, 2010, a high risk day in central Oklahoma. At least one tornado, and several funnel clouds were observed from a long lived supercell thunderstorm.

Overnight storms rolled through giving a bit of a lightning show for Frisco. I was outside playing with my new HD camcorder and caught the below lightning.
